Our
experiences each day have been contrasted with either our
surroundings or the distance between the points we travel. After a
trial run to the top of the closest peak from the desert reserve
trail we were inspired to climb higher at sunrise. So yesterday
morning a few minutes before sunrise, Joshua, Samuel, Isaiah and
myself decided to climb the highest peak overlooking where we were
staying (2000feet). It was exciting finding lines and routes together, working
as a team of explorers and eventually making it to summit. One of
the things the sisters emphasized to us at lunch was that our God, is
a God who loves monuments in his honor (this was one of the reasons
why they made their fountain). So after catching our breath, we all
decided to make a monument of our own at the highest peak to thank
the Lord for his goodness, and blessings thus far on our journey.
May these stones tell a future story as they continue to see many more days of
sunrise and sunset.
Later,
we set off, and made our drive through the desert region of Arizona
and finally ended up at the coastal mountains of San Diego. We sent
out texts to the brothers, met at the Ocean Beach pier and walked on
the salty sand. The sun went down in another new place that we are
privileged to experience. We give thanks with each splash!
