This
was one of the stops of the trip that I had been looking forward to
ever since we started planning - to visit the Evangelical Sisterhood
of Mary in Phoenix, Arizona. We did not at all know what to expect,
the contact was made through Joseph's dad who had visited here
before, and we were not at all disappointed. These are a group of
women who are dedicated to serving and following Christ in all that
they do. They have a beautiful prayer garden that is open to anyone
to come and reflect upon what Christ did for us on the cross. These
women serve the community in various ways, send literature abroad to
the troops, visit and care for the sick and elderly and spread
Christ's love to anyone who steps into their “Canaan in the
Desert”. We were treated as family the moment we arrived – from
delicious meals, treats and snacks to a tour of the facilities, to
hearing many wonderful stories. We felt loved and cared for even
though we were strangers. What a wonderful “retreat” this has
been, and memories that we will never forget!

That sounds like an amazing place. Worth the drive for sure. Even worth a second visit.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really interesting place to visit. I'm sure it was wonderful to be able to stop and wander through a garden after all those days of travelling.
