family+family=family

Family – how good it is! We had Joseph's sister, Ruth, and her fun loving daughter Alannah join us last night and today. They are from Atlanta, Georgia (4 hours from Nashville) and graciously drove “over” to be with us for a bit. So there was lots of “cousin” fun happening – from hugging to jumping to splashing. We had a good ol' Southern supper at Cracker Barrel, went swimmming and tried to go to sleep (right Ruth? :) Thursday morning consisted of a “hot” breakfast at Super 8 (I think I've had my fill of biscuits and gravy) another swim and then headed over to the J. Percy Priest Dam to hike and explore. After our good byes (we love you Ruth and Alannah) we headed for Little Rock, Arkansas. A 5 hour drive turned into a 6.5 hour one due to traffic and heavy rain. Once the rain and traffic subsided, the clouds pulled back and we were blessed with a sunny trip through Memphis. It was an amazing feeling to drive across the Mississippi River.....Giddy car talk began around 7 pm and we pulled into Little Rock a bit after 8. Everyone's had a refreshing swim, snack and are now ready for bed. :)

Alannah called this her "genesis" rock collection.........

Today we went to J. Percy Priest Dam. We found fishing lures, rocks with quartz in it and a snake skin. Joshua and I tried to make a fishing rod out of a stick, fishing line and lure that we found. We didn't catch any fish but we saw a blue gill that was floating on it's side. We think he ate too much! The trip today was tiring because the traffic was barely moving for a long time.

  1. I know from my guys that when cousins get together there's very little sleep that happens - but my goodness, they sure have a lot of fun!

Isaiah - I like your story about the blue gill – that must have been funny to see! It's too bad that you and Josh didn't catch anything with your fishing line, but maybe you'll have better luck next time.
